Role Responsibility

The role will involve advising upon all aspects of insurance including but not limited to:

·       what BBC corporate insurance covers are in place for the proposed activity and identifying potential gaps in cover and how those risks may be managed and mitigated

·       Evaluation of and advising upon additional production insurance coverage options and assisting purchase of required/desired coverages

·       insurance requirements for third parties engaged by BBC Studios and checking coverage, including in relation to the use of boats, aircraft, drones, fixers, production service companies, ground transport, and so forth

·       third party contract review and advice including in relation to contractual indemnities and insurance requirements and obligations

·       reviewing of filming permits/licenses/location agreements issued by third parties for filming purposes and advising on necessary and/or recommended amendments to enable BBC Studios to make informed decisions about any uninsured risks created

·       preparing and issuing of insurance certificates

·       regulatory compliance with compulsory insurance requirements in the UK and abroad

·       providing guidance on claims to be made under applicable insurance arrangements.

You will also play a crucial role in keeping the BBC group’s panel of insurance brokers and insurers updated in respect of the wide range of risks.  This will involve making enquiries, conducting research, and assisting with preparation and collation of underwriting information ensuring the data is accurate, up to date and available in good time for renewal purposes.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for somebody with experience of working within the Insurance industry, with a working knowledge in corporate insurances particularly in regards to the provision of advice on Property, Public, Employers and Motor Third Party liability queries, and processes for claims made against the Corporation. 

We are looking for strong Microsoft Excel skills with a good working knowledge of Charts, Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS and basic macro writing skills, with the ability to manipulate numbers and statistics and interpret data to identify trends and put together an insurance renewal presentation for the corporate insurance market. You will also have intermediate PowerPoint skills with the ability to produce infographics, information in a tabulated format, incorporate audio, video, and interactive PowerPoint slides with embedded content and hyperlinks
