As a Barclays Insurance Risk Manager you will be responsible for the management and execution of assigned corporate and standalone insurance programs, including but not limited to, Barclays Group Crime & Professional Liability, as well as an assorted group of local Professional Lines policies.  Knowledge of Directors and Officers Liability coverage is an important plus. The focus of the team is to drive down the unit cost of insurance whilst simultaneously increasing the area of operational risk insured.

What will you be doing?

• Directly responsible for the control, design and end to end management of specific insurance policies identified by the Director of Group Insurance.  
  -    Policies, will include, but not limited to the Group Crime & Professional Liability, Excess Sipc, Surety, and various local Professional Lines policies.  
• Ensure all assigned insurance programs undergo required governance and are in line with Barclays internal policies and standards and Group Insurance placement protocols
• Directly responsible for the oversight and management of all claims arising from assigned insurance programs
• For risks not insurable through the Group’s corporate insurance programs, deliver and administer specific standalone policies through the Group’s appointed insurance broker(s)
• Deliver expertise and support with respect to mergers, acquisitions, disposals, divestments and capital relief
• Support internal stakeholders with analyzing operational and conduct risks to identify those for which insurance may be available to provide a source of post-loss funding
• Collaborate with Director of Group Insurance and key stakeholders in the oversight of risk retention and insurance activities to ensure cohesive implementation of risk retention strategy

What we’re looking for:

• Undergraduate degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Professional Lines insurance demonstrating continuous growth
• Strong technical foundation in Global Crime, Professional Liability and related coverages, claims management and management of third party insurance relationships.  
• First rate understanding of the global insurance markets and the products used for the transfer of risk (including ART, AMA/Basel and other capital market structures)
• Must have demonstrated experience in corporate risk management and/or related industry experience with emphasis on managing global risk exposures

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Professional insurance designations are a plus
• Thorough knowledge of the organizational structure of the Group i.e. hierarchical, structure and locations
• Strong interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the following packages: Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word

You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
