Young Minds charity donation made by Events Committee

Airmic’s Events Committee has made a donation of £1,000 to Young Minds, a charity supporting mental health and wellness among young people.

The charity was chosen by Airmic’s outgoing chairman Tracey Skinner for 2020 and would have received considerable support from the Annual Dinner, which could not take place in December 2020 due to the pandemic.

“When I made my choice of charity over 15 months ago, I could never have envisaged just how relevant this charity would be today,” Tracey told Airmic News. “The pandemic has had a huge impact on the mental health of young people, with a disproportionate effect on young peoples’ jobs and education.

“Time passes more slowly for young people and therefore it must feel as if we have been in this situation for a very long time. Young Minds wants to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health. They want to make sure that all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.

“I am delighted that the Events Committee voted to make this donation to Young Minds.”

Tracey Skinner chairs the Events Committee, which meets on a quarterly basis and discusses the operational and budgetary issues  for all events.

“The Committee has had some very long serving members, for which we are very grateful, but recently some have left us and we currently have a couple of vacancies. If you are interested in joining the Committee please contact one of the Airmic team.”
