There’s great socio-political unbalance around the globe that could threaten progress of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts within organisations. Beyond the obvious, what else could be driving resistance to change? We will present findings of a recent collaborative research project -- by experts in the resistance to social-change efforts from Harvard and New York University -- on the psychological threats underlying why people resist social-change efforts that could be blocking further DEI progress. We will also review proposed strategies to overcome that resistance for sustainable change and take a look at what this could look like in practice.
