Reporting to the Head of Insurance for the Division, the Insurance Manager will play a key role in supporting the delivery and implementation of the Insurance and Legal Services Operating Models and thereby support achieving the Divisional objectives.

To provide expertise to shape positive change, supporting the delivery of insurance solutions, as well as challenging and focusing on adaptive insurance practices which are aligned to the wider Legal Services strategy.

Your mission

  • Supporting the development and delivery of Division and Segment strategy, plans and objectives.
  • Working collaboratively to provide insurance expertise to Segment and Enabling Services management teams. 
  • Building a culture aligned to our values and associated behaviours, including trust, fairness and ethical conduct, equality of opportunity, work-life balance and employee engagement.
  • Working closely with the Legal Business Partners, Legal Centre of Expertise, Legal Shared Services and Company Secretariat to deliver effective and efficient Legal Services to the business, including supporting the embedding of initiatives, processes and procedures.
  • Use data and analytics for insurance claims trend analysis and to measure the effectiveness of Legal Services policies, procedures and strategy.
  • Continuously drive improvements in systems, policies and procedures through external market trends, insight and internal best practice.
  • Provide coaching, support and technical expertise on all insurance matters including contract risk evaluation, delivery phase support, management and resolution of insurance claims.
  • Support the governance of the Group Insurance Policy and Legal Services policy and process.
  • Keep up to date with changes in insurance market practice, legal developments  and market participants. Manage, support and develop team members as appropriate to the role.
  • To review the suitability of tender contract conditions and our management of risk from an insurance perspective.
  • To effectively engage with insurance broker to obtain quality project specific quotes at a reasonably competitive cost and to resolve complex claims.
  • To assess the quality of construction policy wordings and draft suitable amendments.
  • To give general insurance coverage and claims advice to the business.
  • Support Head of Insurance in the renewal of the insurance programme with the right balance between cost, cover and certainty of cover to protect the financial results of the Division.
  • Implementation, monitoring and reporting against performance metrics enabling sound decision making within the Division and contribute to consistent decision making.
  • Promoting the importance of best practice and knowledge sharing. 
  • Participate in Legal Services based initiatives within the Division.

Who are we looking for?

You will have good experience of working at a senior position in the insurance/risk management department of a major building/civil engineering contractor who is inspired by the new UK&I Legal Services business model.  You will be passionate about delivering and supporting effective insurance risk management. You will ideally have an Advanced Diploma in Insurance qualification. 

You will be able to balance the needs of your stakeholders and will have a commercially focused mindset which combines the requirements of the business and the Insurance Operational Plan.

Your excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills mean you develop relationships with ease which enable you to constructively challenge in order to seek continuous improvements that add value, drive consistency and deliver improved results.  
You will be a competent user of MS Office applications and other business tools.
You will have committed to your own personal development.
