Airmic members asked to comment
Airmic members have been asked to provide feedback on the Draft International Standard for ISO 31000 Risk management - Guidelines, issued by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) this month. The risk management standard aims to achieve a consensus on risk management principles for all organisations, and provide a framework and process for managing risk.
The original standard, ISO 31000: 2009, is currently undergoing revision as part of the standards development process. Airmic is an active member of the British Standards Institution (BSI) committee which is contributing to this review, and risk managers in the UK have an opportunity to provide feedback.
The current draft has been created from comments received globally, including from Airmic through the BSI. Julia Graham, Airmic’s technical director and deputy CEO, urged risk managers to offer feedback: “I would encourage Airmic members to comment. Standards make good business sense and it’s important that risk managers have the opportunity to contribute to their development.”
The Draft International Standard for ISO 31000 is open for comment globally until 11 May 2017. Airmic members wishing to comment can do so by emailing Julia.graham@airmic.com. Any suggested changes must be clearly explained and where appropriate an alternative wording suggested. Comments are requested by 17 April so that they can be collated and fed through to ISO in good time.
