The Airmic annual dinner - one of the great business networking events of the year - is open for bookings. Members who apply by September will get an Early Bird discount of £100 a place.
The guest speaker this year is Tony Hawks, the TV and radio comedian and best-selling author. Tony has appeared frequently on TV comedy programmes including: Have I Got News for You, They Think it's all Over, Paul Merton and A Bit of Fry and Laurie and he is a regular guest on radio programmes such as The News Quiz, Would I Lie to You, Just a Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. He also presented his own Radio 4 series, Tony Hawks' Lost Weekends.
He will be there in his capacity as ambassador for the dinner's chosen charity, the National Literacy Trust.
This charity works to improve the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in the UK's poorest communities, where one in three people have literacy problems. Because low literacy is inter-generational, they focus their work on families, young people and children. Airmic will be supporting this charity by hosting a silent auction on the night. Last year we raised nearly £17,000 for the Alzheimer's Society, and we naturally hope to do even better this year.
Recognition will also be given to the individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to Airmic over the previous twelve months.
The Airmic dinner takes place on 11 December 2018 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.
