Partnership will promote risk management and resilience at a community level, says Airmic chairman
Airmic will be forming a partnership with the Business Emerging Resilience Group (BERG), part of HRH The Prince of Wales' Business in the Community (BITC), the association has announced. BERG works with local communities and businesses to build resilience, before, during and after a disaster or crisis.
"I am absolutely delighted to be able to announce this collaboration," Airmic chairman, Lynda Lucas, commented. "BERG is a fantastic initiative which has done some wonderful things at a community level in this country. Like Airmic, resilience is at the heart of their mission so we have a lot of synergy and many areas in which we can work together."
BERG was established 10 years ago following extensive flooding in the UK, and has since helped businesses and communities to recover following major incidents such as floods, riots and fires. It collaborates with large organisations in the private, public and charity sectors - many of which are Airmic members - to support small and medium-sized businesses plan for significant risks and recover more quickly following an emergency. BERG will be exhibiting at Airmic's annual conference in June.
Mike Still, chair of BERG and a BITC trustee and director added: "Having the opportunity to collaborate with Airmic and its extensive membership of risk management professionals is a perfect partnership. The ability to partner and communicate to support improved resilience and recovery from crisis across the UK and wider is fantastic. The team at BERG is looking forward to making a huge positive difference together."
Promoting sustainable business in the context of effective risk management is an Airmic priority. It has a three-pronged strategy, covering health and wellness; diversity and inclusion; and charity and community.
"Risk management is not just about building resilience at an enterprise level," Ms Lucas added. "It's also important to build resilience from the ground up. BERG is an excellent example of how big business can be a positive force for good in society. It's about promoting risk management at a community level."
