The objective of Airmic Friday Reading was initially to keep members informed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Using their global economic risk dataset, Verisk Maplecroft has categorised central banks and government authorities based on the degree of monetary and fiscal flexibility they now have to combat the economic crisis. The results suggest many of the world’s largest economies, including China, will struggle to do much more than they already have should the slowdown last more than a few months.
