Winners and highly commended entries were announced at the Annual Dinner.
The winners of the Airmic Excellence Awards 2022 were announced at this year’s Airmic Annual Dinner, which took place on 6 December at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.
The awards celebrate the outstanding achievement of Airmic members across a number of specific categories.
There were six awards winners, as well as three highly commended entries in the Rising Star, Insurance Innovation and Risk Management Innovation categories.
After the success of this their first year, the Airmic Excellence Awards will return in 2023. The awards were presented by Airmic board chair Tim Graham and board member Fiona Davidge.
Rising Star – Winner
Florie Starkings, Selfridges, Group Risk & Insurance Manager
Florie said: “To have been working in the insurance industry for just over three year, receiving the Rising Star award was a huge honour and one I really was not expecting.
“I hope that with my continued development I can give back some of the support I’ve been shown to the next generation of risk and insurance managers.”

Making a difference in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) – Winner
Soowoo Park, International Risk Analyst, Google
Soowoo said: “It was my great pleasure to receive this award. I would like to thank all members and my fellow panellists who joined the DEI discussions over the past three years. I am excited to see continuing development in the industry.”
Insurance Innovation – Winner
Ray Webb, Risk, Compliance, and Insurance Investigations Manager, Kier-Group
Ray said: “I was delighted to be recognised by the Airmic insurance community as someone who had successfully used innovation by collaborating with a university, to understand how our circumstantial, personal and systemic contributors to crash risk could create a novel cost effective, realistic, and sustainable strategy that enhances the transport safety matters culture in Kier.”

Lifetime Achievement – Winner
George Ong, Chief Risk Officer, Northern Ireland Water
George said: “This award means so much to me as it clearly shows the importance of business partnerships and building relationships. I share this award with all my colleagues in Northern Ireland Water and business partners across the world because without you, we would not have achieved this and more!”
