The well qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge:

  • California Education Code, Administrative Code, Government Code, Labor Code, Health and Safety Code, California Code of Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, and other laws, codes and regulations pertaining to risk management principles, practices, methods and techniques of risk management, insurance, self-insurance, claims administration, safety and loss-prevention/control and workers' compensation administration
  • Fundamental employment laws, codes, and regulations including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements

Requirements

Education: A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, risk management, industrial relations, industrial engineering, safety administration, occupational safety, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing

Experience:

Five years of experience managing risk management programs, including property and liability insurance, loss control, safety, and workers' compensation.

Additional Requirements:

A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required. Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is highly desirable
